Na Na Thong

Thong Sai, a 19-year-old girl, works at an ice cream shop to earn money for her education. She lives with her mother, Sithil. Sithil was married to Thong Khao, the son of a coconut farmer who made a living producing palm sugar. Thong Khao was very flirtatious and irresponsible, often unemployed. Together, Thong Khao and Sithil had two daughters: Thong Sai and Tho Rung. Thong Khao’s womanizing eventually became too much for Sithil to bear, and they separated.
Sithil moved to Bangkok to work and later remarried a cosmetics salesman named Pueng. They had a son together named Pan. However, Sithil and Pueng could not stay together, as Pueng would often physically abuse her when he was drunk. Eventually, Sithil left him as well.
Meanwhile, Thong Sai and Tho Rung lived with their grandparents, where they had to help with hard work such as climbing coconut trees, tapping palm trees, and making palm sugar. When Thong Sai learned that her mother had separated from her stepfather, she decided to leave her grandparents’ house to live with her mother, both out of concern and for another reason.
