Synopsis
San is the only son of Phra Chan Chalasai, the Minister of Finance. San is a gifted oil painter who, after graduating from the Philippines, returns to Thailand and becomes engaged to Suwalee. On the night of his engagement, San discovers the truth: his father has taken a new wife, Marasri, a nightclub singer. This revelation leads to a violent argument between San and his father. Feeling hurt and resentful, San flees to stay with his close friend, Boonma. However, along the way, San is ambushed and attacked, causing him to lose his memory.
When San regains consciousness, he finds himself at a ferry pier near Koh Sichang. He is rescued by a local pier owner who gives him a new name: Siem. Working as a laborer on a boat, Siem one day hears a beautiful melody as the vessel passes Koh Sichang. Enchanted by the island's beauty, he jumps overboard and swims toward the shore. His strength fails him mid-swim, but before he sinks into the depths, he is rescued by Nid, a local island girl.
Siem falls in love with Nid at first sight and asks to stay with her. Because he is a wandering stranger, Nid’s mother (Nim), her brother (Nueng), and Cherd—a local man long in love with Nid—are suspicious and hostile toward him. However, Siem’s goodness eventually wins them over. During his time there, Siem is surprised to find he possesses a mastery of English and a talent for painting. He paints a beautiful portrait of Nid, titling it "Sao Noi" (The Little Girl), and gives it to her on their wedding day.
The couple lives happily on Koh Sichang until fate takes a sharp turn. Phra Chan Chalasai discovers that San is living on the island with amnesia and rushes to bring him back to Bangkok for treatment. San refuses to leave without Nid, forcing his father to bring her along. The treatment successfully restores San’s original memories, but tragically, his memories of his time on Koh Sichang—including his deep love for Nid—completely vanish.
Worried that San might remember Nid if they stay close, Suwalee tricks Nid into working as a servant for Khun Ying Mali, the wife of Phraya Thammanoon. While there, Nid discovers that Khun Ying Mali is having an affair with Luang Chinda. Before she can inform Phraya Thammanoon, Khun Ying Mali catches her and frames her for a crime, landing Nid in prison.
In jail, Nid meets Chod, a once-famous theater performer. The two become close friends, bonded by their shared love for music and performance. Eventually, Nid’s friend Kaew manages to reveal the truth about the affair to Phraya Thammanoon, who secures the release of both Nid and Chod. He helps Chod re-establish her theater troupe, and soon, Nid rises to fame as a charismatic lead actress known to the public as Wanida.
Now possessing wealth and fame, Nid returns to San to reclaim the man she loves from Suwalee. But Suwalee is both beautiful and cunning—she has no intention of losing. With neither woman willing to back down, the battle for San’s heart begins.
