Synopsis
Mahatsachan realizes that the woman he loves is Baimon, a peasant girl who sells fermented fish (pla ra). However, he doesn't know that Baimon is actually the same person as Maithong, a wealthy, kind-hearted volunteer lawyer and the owner of a canned fermented fish export business. Mahatsachan gets engaged to Baimon with the blessing of his father, Patihan. However, his high-society mother, Sutsuay, and his younger sister, Sutkhanueng, strongly disapprove, though they cannot formally object. Baimon tries to confess the truth about her identity, but various interruptions prevent her from doing so. Meanwhile, Hin is sent to prison alongside Ruayruen, the mother of Ruamruedee, who had previously plotted to seize the fortunes of Baimon and Mahatsachan's families. While Mahatsachan is driving Baimon to Bangkok, they spot Ruamruedee, who has fallen on hard times and is selling flower garlands at an intersection, getting attacked by some teenagers. Baimon steps in to help her. Ruamruedee acts pitiful and claims she has turned over a new leaf, but secretly, she still plans to steal Mahatsachan back. Baimon doesn't entirely trust Ruamruedee but takes pity on her, letting her stay and work at her papaya salad (som tum) shop. This gives Ruamruedee the perfect opportunity to embezzle the fermented fish to sell for her own profit.
Saoduan visits Hin in prison, revealing that she is his daughter with Soidao. Hin had abandoned her when she was young, but she recently became wealthy after inheriting a fortune from her adoptive mother, Nang Choiki, and decided to track down her father. She promises to take good care of him once he is released. Seeing an opportunity for revenge, Hin manipulates his daughter's love by lying to her. He claims he was framed by Ruayruen and Ruamruedee, and that lawyer Maithong fabricated evidence against him using Paktra as a false witness, while Sutsuay and Sutkhanueng also conspired to put him behind bars. Believing him completely, Saoduan vows to take revenge on everyone on her father's behalf.
Meanwhile, Ruamruedee is instructed by her jailed mother to remain just as wicked as before. The people around Mahatsachan don't believe someone like Ruamruedee can change, which only makes Mahatsachan pity her more, seeing her as an outcast whom no one will forgive. Baimon becomes increasingly uneasy about Ruamruedee but keeps quiet. Phuyai Uak and Nang Nokkhab (Baimon’s parents), Robert and Khamlao (the parents of Baimon’s best friend, Khamloi), and Soklek (a highly educated som tum vendor and Baimon’s advisor) also distrust Ruamruedee, but they haven't been able to catch her doing anything wrong yet.
Sutsuay and Sutkhanueng reunite with Siam, their trusted maid, reverting to their old scheming ways. They try to make Baimon jealous of Mahatsachan by using Maithong as a tool. Baimon wants to reveal the truth but still can't. While Saoduan plots her revenge, she is sued over her inheritance by Kriang, an avid gambler and Nang Choiki’s nephew. Yutthana steps in to help Saoduan, recommending Maithong as her lawyer. Seeing Yutthana getting close to Baimon, Ruamruedee uses the opportunity to slander Baimon to Mahatsachan, causing the couple to argue out of jealousy. Mahatsachan retaliates by getting closer to Ruamruedee. Following her father's coaching, Saoduan starts befriending everyone to enact her revenge, specifically targeting Sutsuay and Sutkhanueng. As expected, the mother-daughter duo sides with Saoduan to help get rid of Baimon. Only Patihan remains understanding and supportive of Baimon.
Hin is bailed out of jail and uses Saoduan to carry out his evil deeds. Ruamruedee also bails out Ruayruen. Ruayruen orders Ruamruedee to target Baimon and Maithong to make their revenge easier. Hin disguises himself as "Somchai" and Ruayruen disguises herself as "Somying," accompanied by their equally wicked subordinates, Star and Sky. Hin and Ruayruen run into each other, but neither recognizes the other. They hit it off and start flirting, reverting to their old romantic history. Saoduan begins to disagree with her father’s unjust methods for revenge, but she continues to be swayed by his constant manipulation. Mahatsachan and Baimon drift further apart due to Baimon’s jealousy over Mahatsachan's apparent preference for Maithong, compounded by third parties interfering in their relationship.
Baimon is kidnapped by Hin and Ruayruen's gangs, but she manages to escape and swaps her identity to Maithong to throw them off. Having failed to capture Baimon, Hin and Ruayruen shift their plan to kidnap Maithong instead. They hire her for a legal case and send a driver to take her to Khao Yai. Sensing a trap, Maithong has Mahatsachan disguise himself as a maid to accompany her, hinting that they might run into Baimon there. During the trip, Mahatsachan grows closer to Maithong. Even though he is shaken by how much she resembles Baimon, he remains fiercely loyal to Baimon. Meanwhile, Kriang, furious that Maithong is representing Saoduan, teams up with Ruayruen. A fight breaks out between Hin and Ruayruen's gangs over who gets to capture Maithong, forcing Mahatsachan and Maithong to split up and flee. Cornered, Maithong switches her disguise back to Baimon. Running into Kriang, Baimon tricks him to find an escape route. Patihan, along with Baimon’s family and friends, form a search party for both Maithong and Baimon. Hin (as Somchai) runs into Paktra, who is now living with Saoduan after fleeing Kriang’s casino. Unaware that "Somchai" is actually Hin, Paktra accepts his offer of money to capture either Maithong or Baimon.
Baimon flees Kriang's pursuit just as Yutthana arrives to help. They run into a police checkpoint set up by Mahatsachan, allowing Baimon a narrow escape. Kriang flees to ask Ruamruedee for help, teaming up for more villainy. Kriang then goes after Saoduan to force her to hand over her inheritance, but Yutthana spots him. Mahatsachan, Baimon, and Yutthana rush to rescue Saoduan, but Hin gets to his daughter first. Saoduan tells her father that Ruayruen’s group was helping Kriang. Furious, Hin retaliates by kidnapping Ruayruen. Ruamruedee reports Hin to the police for kidnapping her mother, while Saoduan files a counter-report against Ruayruen for kidnapping her. However, Saoduan handles the situation calmly, leading both parties to drop their charges.
Robert and Khamlao open a new restaurant and invite Patihan to cut the ribbon. The event features a unique traditional Serng dance, with Baimon, Saoduan, and Ruamruedee performing while suspended in the air on wire slings. Ruayruen plots to swap the sling hooks using Saenngam and Orachon, while Hin also sends someone to tamper with the hooks to make Baimon fall to her death. Hearing about the event, Sutsuay and Sutkhanueng attend just to prank Baimon, causing Baimon to injure her hand on Sutsuay’s gardening shears. Maithong appears and offers to take Baimon's place in the dance. Knowing that Maithong's sling has been tampered with, Saoduan asks to take Maithong's place, wanting to end the violence herself and stop her father from hurting innocent people. Before the show, Saoduan is kidnapped by Hin's men, so Sutkhanueng ends up taking her place on the sling. As the performance begins, Hin orders his men to release Saoduan so he won't be suspected of the impending "accident." Saoduan rushes in to stop the performance, but it's too late; Sutkhanueng’s sling snaps mid-air. Fortunately, Maithong manages to catch her.
Baimon visits Saoduan and sees Hin there, but doesn't recognize him. Seizing the opportunity, Hin shoots at Baimon, but Saoduan jumps in the way and takes the bullet to her shoulder. Paktra tells everyone that the shooter was Hin—since he had chased her with a gun previously—but no one believes her. Ruamruedee and Ruayruen then plot to burn down the fermented fish factory, while Hin sets fire to Maithong's law office. Hearing the news, Baimon rushes into the burning office to save some documents and gets trapped. Mahatsachan follows her into the flames, rescues her, and they jump out of an upper-floor door, coincidentally landing directly on Hin, who had disguised himself as a villager helping to extinguish the fire. When his headwrap falls off, everyone recognizes him, but he manages to escape. Earlier, Hin had tied Saoduan up before setting the fire because she had begged him to stop his crimes. When rescued, Saoduan is too afraid to admit her father tied her up, but Yutthana strongly suspects Hin.
After the fire, Sutkhanueng is kidnapped by Ruayruen, while Ruamruedee is kidnapped by Hin. Ruayruen negotiates a hostage exchange with Hin. Hin agrees, partly because Sutkhanueng used to be his wife, and he wants to hurt her family. When Sutkhanueng goes missing, Patihan, Mahatsachan, Phuyai Uak, Yutthana, Baimon, Saoduan, and the villagers search all night to no avail. Seeing an opportunity, Ruayruen slaps Ruamruedee and devises a plan: Ruamruedee will act pitiful in front of Mahatsachan’s family, claiming she found Sutkhanueng but couldn't save her because she was also attacked by Hin. Ruayruen watches from afar, and seeing Patihan's group approach, tries to shoot Patihan—calculating that if Ruamruedee marries Mahatsachan, she will eventually inherit Patihan's wealth. However, her bullet misses and hits Ruamruedee instead. Hearing the gunshot, everyone rushes over. Seeing Ruamruedee wounded, Mahatsachan and Saoduan immediately rush her to the hospital.
After the gunfire, Yutthana and Baimon continue their search for Sutkhanueng and find her with Hin, both severely battered. Baimon offers to exchange herself for Sutkhanueng. As Yutthana tries to take Sutkhanueng to safety, Ruayruen spots them and shoots at them to silence Sutkhanueng, fearing she will expose the truth. Baimon cleverly fights back, knocks Hin unconscious, and escapes. Meanwhile, Ruayruen and her thugs successfully break Ruamruedee out of the hospital, with Kriang driving the getaway car (as he and Ruamruedee previously had an affair). However, Baimon spots them and gives chase with Mahatsachan. Cornered by a police checkpoint, Kriang drives into a ditch, and they all scatter. Hin is finally arrested by the police. Furious that Saoduan refused to follow his wicked ways, he commits suicide by taking poison in his jail cell right in front of her. Ashamed of her father's actions, Saoduan decides to ordain as a nun. However, Yutthana stops her, confessing that he has loved her for a long time but was afraid to say it, fearing people would think he was just after her money. Saoduan is overjoyed to learn her love wasn't unrequited.
Kriang and Ruamruedee finally discover that Baimon and Maithong are the same person. They plot to expose her secret to the villagers to ruin her. On the day Maithong is campaigning to run for MP in Patihan's place, Ruayruen and her thugs show up in disguise to crash the event. When the truth of her identity is revealed, the crowd erupts into chaos and begins booing her. As Maithong/Baimon pleads for everyone to calm down, Kriang opens fire on the stage, trying to kill both Maithong and Mahatsachan. He fails to escape and is arrested by the police. Ruamruedee is caught in the crossfire and tragically dies in Mahatsachan's arms, fulfilling her final wish to be with him. Devastated by her daughter's death and losing the will to live, Ruayruen takes her own life. After all the tragedies finally pass, Mahatsachan and Baimon reconcile and their love is fully restored.
