Synopsis
Dech Satyapha is a man obsessed with clay dolls to an extraordinary degree. He not only buys dolls to collect whenever he has money, but is also skilled enough to craft dolls with his own hands out of pure passion. These dolls are kept in a special room in his house, forming what is known as "Satyapha" - the dwelling place of the clay dolls.
Family Members
Dech - The homeowner and passionate collector of clay dolls
Areey - Dech's wife, a virtuous woman with a generous heart. Though she knows about Pilay, she never speaks of it
Panray - Dech's daughter from a previous relationship with Pilay. She is indifferent to dolls and dislikes having them in the house
Amra - The daughter of Dech and Areey. She loves dolls as much as her father does
Od (Amphirat) - The young son of Dech and Areey. Still a child, he prefers to run and play
The Doll Collection
The house contains many fascinating dolls, including a peasant doll, a nobleman doll, a dancing lady doll, a soldier doll, a waitress doll, a thief doll, a child doll, an Areey doll, an archer doll, a beautiful model doll (nurse), a celestial goddess doll, and a Dech doll - all either purchased or crafted by Dech himself.
The Roles Within the House
Dech, Areey, and Amra spend most of their time together conversing in the doll room. Both Dech and Amra love the dolls dearly, while young Od prefers running and playing. Panray, on the other hand, shows no interest in the dolls and actually dislikes having them in the house.
Dech's Past
In the past, Dech had a relationship with a woman named Pilay whose consequences continue to affect the present. Pilay was unfaithful - she secretly ran off with another man because Dech was too absorbed in his doll-crafting to pay her attention. When Dech discovered this, he allowed Pilay to go with the other man but kept their child.
Panray is the daughter of Dech and Pilay, but the truth about her real mother has been hidden from her throughout her life. Everyone was led to believe that Areey was her true mother. Areey, being a good woman, accepted this situation, though she harbored anxiety. She feared that Pilay might return and win Dech's heart again, knowing that he had once loved Pilay.
Anxiety and Death
One day, Pilay did indeed return to win Dech back. Areey's fears became reality. Her deep anxiety, combined with her heart condition, caused her death not long after.
On the day Areey died, a female doll that Dech had crafted as a representation of Areey suddenly fell and shattered for no apparent reason. This strange coincidence shocked everyone in the household.
Pilay's Behavior
Amra, Od, and others in the household were puzzled by Pilay's preference for Panray alone, especially since Amra and Od had much better temperaments than Panray. Both were respectful and never showed any disdain toward Pilay, yet Pilay showed clear favoritism toward Panray.
Panray had a physical appearance, personality, and disposition remarkably similar to Pilay, though Panray herself was unaware of this resemblance.
New Characters Arrive
Chantram - Pilay's niece, drawn into her aunt's schemes and plans
Art (Santi Sritdech) - A painter and amateur writer who recently returned from America after completing his education. He seeks to experience rural life
Prajak - A man in love with Chantram, studying to become a lawyer. He follows Chantram to help her schemes, but when he meets Amra, his philandering nature leads him to make inappropriate advances toward Amra
Chantram is attracted to Art and wants him to see evidence of her aunt Pilay's claims. She cooperates with Pilay eagerly because she wants her aunt to obtain Dech's wealth.
Amra rejects Prajak's advances, which fills him with resentment. Art observes the situation in the "Satyapha" house with objectivity and empathy. He understands that Amra is grieving the recent loss of her mother.
