Katanyu Pitsawat

The story shows the lives of Chinese people in Bangkok's slum district, which seeks to preserve Chinese traditions. Mong is a pork merchant and a family man, married to a younger wife, Cheng. She doesn't love her husband, but is grateful because he helped her out of trouble by buying her from slavery in a wealthy family. Their neighbours, Uncle Kim and Jiew, are fascinated by Cheng's profound beauty and her diligence, but they keep their feelings to themselves. Later, Mong is arrested by the police and deported back to China. Cheng is helped by Uncle Kim and Jiew, as well as Malee, a prostitute with a good heart.
